ABOUT US

Arizona law enforcement officers are always working to keep you safe.
It's a responsibility we take very seriously.
It's the cause for which we are willing to give our own lives.

Because of our commitment to public safety, it's our duty to warn you when we see a threat, when we know that lives and property are at risk. Today in the State Capitol, elected officials are considering dangerous changes to public policy that put law-abiding citizens in the direct path of the most violent teenage criminals in our state.

We have warned these elected officials that it's dangerous to play politics with public safety and that every Arizona family will be impacted by these decisions. We are municipal and state police officers, deputy sheriffs, probation and parole officers, and state and county correctional officers. We are the experts on public safety. We don't need to wait on campaigning politicians to tell us that crime rates are up -- we see it in every community and we know firsthand that criminals are becoming more violent.

We also understand our state is in the worst financial crisis in recent history. But, cutting public safety resources is not a solution. Taking officers off the street and releasing violent prisoners without proper supervision leaves communities unprotected.

The Arizona Conference of Police and Sheriffs (AZCOPS) is working in partnership with communities across the state to educate elected officials on the magnitude of these decisions.

You Can Help

Contact your representatives in the State Capitol and tell them to keep the state's juvenile prisons open. Ask them to provide funding in the state budget for Juvenile Corrections and urge them to SUPPORT HB 2131, which continues ADJC operations until 2015.
